Urinary incontinence occurs when you leak urine beyond your control. No matter how hard you try, you leak. Stress incontinence occurs when you cough, sneeze, laugh, jump on a trampoline or chase the dog. Urgency incontinence is when you get the urge to pee and cannot for the life of you make it to the bathroom fast enough. You are doing the “I have to pee” dance all the way to the bathroom and leak while you are taking your pants down.
Can you relate to this? Then Lume Deodorant for Underarms & Private Parts is for you.
For men who have had prostate surgery, it can be something to battle. Pads provide a barrier between leaking urine and clothing, but if you are out and about, you may begin to notice a slight urine odor that grows stronger as the day goes on. Why is this?
Urine is composed primarily of water and salt. That characteristic urine odor comes from a compound called urea. Urea is a by-product of amino acids from our diet and is composed primarily of nitrogen. When bacteria that are commonly found in our gastrointestinal tract digest this nitrogenous waste, worsening foul odor is formed.
If only you could stop that worsening smell caused by bacteria, all you would ever notice is the leak! Leaks happen to most men and women as we get older, but odor doesn’t have to. This is thanks to Lume. Use it and forget it.
Keeping you smelling fresh all day long is our goal.
1. Shower and dry off really well. When bathing, use a mild, natural soap like Lume Natural Soap for Face & Body which cleanses and moisturizes your skin without any problem ingredients. Then, apply Lume Deodorant after drying thoroughly to external areas of your body that may come into contact with leaking urine.
For added confidence, wear a pad to absorb leaks as they occur, and keep Lume Deodorant Wipes on hand for whenever you need it. They're wipes as you've never seen them before, because they have the power to knock odor out before it actually has a chance to start. Lume Deodorant + Pad and Wipes = Confidence against odor and wetness.
If you have a hard time holding your urine the closer you get to the bathroom, you can do a couple things to improve that overwhelming urge!
2. Timed bladder emptying. Never pass up a chance to empty your bladder to avoid opening the floodgates between the car and the bathroom! I speak from experience, having spent time sitting in the car working up enough courage to stand up and run to the bathroom!
3. Avoid caffeine. Caffeine actually stimulates your bladder to contract and intensifies the urge to empty your bladder. Coffee makes it more difficult to make it to the toilet in time to avoid a leak.
4. Biofeedback. You can actually train your brain to override that intense urge to empty your bladder. When you feel as if you are about to wet your pants, stop and Kegel. A Kegal is a pelvic floor strengthening exercise.
Contract the muscles of your pelvic floor as if you are trying to stop the flow of urine. It sends a signal to your brain that then signals your bladder to stop contracting and this alleviates the bladder spasm. It takes practice, but it works. Next time you are emptying your bladder, try and stop the flow.
You should do this 100 times a day while just sitting or standing for maximum, walnut-cracking benefit (It has also been shown to increase the intensity of an orgasm, so there is that too).
Please do not apply Lume if you have broken, irritated, or chronically itchy skin. Sometimes the increase in moisture associated with leaking urine can lead to skin breakdown, yeast infections of the skin (itching most commonly noted), redness and soreness. It is easily managed by your doctor and, once your skin is healthy again, you can begin to use Lume to avoid urine odor that follows leaks.
